Because a Little Bug Went Ka-Choo!
Published in Hardcover by Random House (Merchandising) (October, 1975)

Deeper than you think
This is a book for children that has some universal lessons for adults, also. Without a child (or a parent) knowing it, they are subtly and pleasantly introduced to the concept of the interconnectedness of life, and the effect that ones actions can have upon others. This message is not hammered home, but is quietly and humorously expounded by the very talented author. I have considered using this book in college classes for discussions of karma, and also for discussions on personal responsibility.

An Adorable Little Bug
By the time I was four years old I had this entire book memorized. My parents knew better than to skip pages, becuase I was paying attention. It is an adorable book about a little bug that sneezes and all the things that happen becuase of it. Who knew that a little sneezing bug could sink the ship "Mary Lou"?

Favorite Book When I Was Little
When I was little my mom used to read me this book all the time. It was my favortie book and I highly recommend it.

Close Encounters: 100 Tips for Achieving the Intimacy You Desire

Close Encounters-The Intimacy Bible
GREAT BOOK!!!! As the introduction of the book states, "You want intimacy, so go out there and get it!". A great first step in achieving this goal is to read this book. Not just once, but I believe every couple should each reread it once every three months. That is why I call this book the Intimacy Bible. Men and women are inherently different creatures. However, one's marriage is the most important relationship you will ever undertake. It's amazing how people will spend ten hours per day at a job, three hours a day in front of a television, one hour day eating, however, they spend no time at all educating and refining their marital/relationship skills. The reason I love this book is that every page is chock full of great information and ideas for a successful relationship. Unlike most books in which the author wastes your time with a lot of mindless jabber, this book cuts to the chase on every page. I can actually place myself in each of the one hundred tips/questions and the answers are fabulous. The reader walks away armed with a multitude of helpful tips they can use immediately in improving their relationship. If you seek real intimacy and a great relationship, read this book and buy an extra copy for your mate. I guarantee, if you follow these tips, it will improve your relationship tremendously.

Practical and Powerful
This is a must read for anyone having trouble in their relationship or anyone wanting to recapture the intimacy they once knew.

Exceptional
Exceptional!...Close Encounters presents outstanding advice and sets it forth in a logical, direct and intelligent manner. It should be required reading for any study of relationships. Absolutely outstanding - you are guaranteed to enjoy this book and to learn from it. Buy more than one copy, because you certainly will give it as a gift and will not want to give up yours. Stop reading this and place your order...

Cooper Kids Adventure Series: #5 The Secret Of The Desert Stone
Published in Paperback by Thomas Nelson (21 May, 1996)
Author: Frank E. Peretti

Amazing
I loved this book! It gives readers a breather in the series, since the most of the books have dangerous situations. This book is not so dangerous until the end, but it is soooo interesting to see the simalarities between the idea's of the people they meet and Christianity. It starts when Dr. Cooper and his kids investigate the apearance of a large, perfectly rectangle stone in a mountain pass. The tribe they meet behind it is very friendly to them. During their stay with the them they discover the tribe is expecting water to come from the stone to help them grow crops, although the army on the other side is terrified of it. Dr. Cooper's family also dicover the people have a religion very similar to Christianity, with some of the same stories that some from the Bible. In the end, the stone saves them all. This is such an interesting book, it was a thrill for me to read.

Absolutley terrific!
Frank Peretti is one of the best authors on the face of this Earth. This book, The Secret of the Desert Stone, displays that talent. He perfectly captures the greatness, and soverigntiy of God in a creative way. Once again, I totally admire the Coopers maturity as Christians, and their complete trust in the Father.

Inspiring, powerful, and an excellent thriller for all ages.
This book is a great book for all ages. I am currently 17 and I love it. It is a wonderful testimony of what you can do with faith in God.

Grover and the Everything in the Whole Wide World Museum, Featuring Lovable, Furry Old Grover, (A Random House Pictureback)

Authors: Norman Stiles, Daniel Wilcox, Joe Mathieu, Joseph Mathieu, and Jon Stone

Fun book for kids and parents
My 5-year-old loves this book. He enjoys pointing to each thing and saying what it is. He also loves the sillyness. The grouping of objects in categories helps children conceptualize how things are similar and different.

Grover and Unschooling
This is one of the best books to trigger people's knowledge of how to learn on their own, and where learning is. More than showing what IS in the museum, Grover shows us that the museum is an artificial, tiny part of the whole wide world, and that we can step out into the sunlight. I had mentioned this book months ago and am glad to see it's still in print, still available to make the lights go on in the minds of children and their parents! ... I whole heartedly recommend this book to anyone teaching a child at home!

GREAT FUN, ENTERTAINMENT AND LEARNING EXPERIENCE!
This book is a must-own! GROVER AND THE EVERYTHING IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD MUSEUM should win an award! It is hard to believe one can find something this wonderful for 3 bucks!

Grover is so entertaining as we follow him through 1) THE THINGS YOU SEE IN THE SKY ROOM, 2) THE THINGS YOU SEE ON THE GROUND ROOM, 3) THE THINGS YOU SEE ON THE WALL ROOM, 4) THE THINGS YOU SEE UNDER THE WATER ROOM, 5) THE LONG THIN THINGS YOU CAN WRITE WITH ROOM, 6) THE CARROT ROOM, 7) ALL THE VEGETABLES IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD BESIDES CARROTS ROOM, 8) THINGS THAT MAKE SO MUCH NOISE YOU CAN'T THINK ROOM, 9) THE SMALL HALL, 10) THE TALL HALL, 11) THINGS THAT CAN MAKE YOU FALL HALL, 12) THE HALL OF VERY, VERY LIGHT THINGS, 13) THE HALL OF VERY, VERY HEAVY THINGS, 14) THE THINGS THAT CAN TICKLE YOU ROOM, 15) THE THINGS THAT ARE CUTE AND FURRY ROOM where Grover decides to display himself.

I know that all the above sounds like alot of reading but I'll let you in on a little secret: [whispering] it is not everything in the whole wide world! [Ha!] Grover notices this too and says "Where did they put everything else?" He comes to this giant double-door with a sign above it that of course says "EVERYTHING ELSE." "AHA!" says Grover and enters.

This is one of the best, funniest books we own that my daughter and I BOTH enjoy. There are plenty of objects for her to learn and it is great entertainment reading a book with the charming, loveable Grover in it and laughing at all of his antics! Every family should own this book! I wish more books were this funny and entertaining yet a learning experience at the same time! 10 STAR BOOK FOLKS; IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS! BUY IT!

Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen (German Audio CD Edition of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone")

Harry Potter und der Steinder Weisen
Alles, das ich über das Buch sagen kann, ist, daß ich es liebte, und ich glaube, daß es sehr wert Leseversuch es ist.

Wunderbar
Chances are if your thinking on buying this book in German, you've probably already read the Englsih version, so I won't bog you down with any lengthy opinion on the story itself except to say it is a modern classic, full of mystery and suspense that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike.

Foreign language versions of English novels are notoriously difficult to translate, largely due to the high number of English words which have no exact translation in say, German or French. But on the whole, this was an exceptionally translated peice, with no major blunders sticking out (the Spanish version is full of them) The most obvious chnage is of "Hermione" to "Hermine" Perhaps Hermione would feel strange to pronounce to a native German speaker, not sure on that one.

A lot of people will tell you Spanish and French are far easier to learn than German. I found German more fun to learn, most people who say it is a difficult, technical language do not know that English and German belong in the same group of languages (Germanic) French, Spanish and Italian are in a completely different group (Romantic) So to brush up on language skills, or just to have fun reading a novel in another language, HP is probably the most fun and easy to understand novel on the market.

An excellent translation
This translation of Harry Potter pulled even this native speaker of English along almost as well as the original book, and I would recommend it for anyone who's had a couple of years of German as a skill and vocabulary builder. If you're struggling with Goethe or Thomas Mann, you need something that will show you that German can be fun to read, and this book will do the trick nicely. I suppose once could carp at a few things here and there, but this translation is so superior to the French translation that I wouldn't waste my time doing that, except to mention that Hermione's name has for some reason been changed to Hermine. If you get stuck, at least the trot's readily available!

Water wishes is about 3 kids who find a bottle with paper n the sea. These 3 kids realize wishes are not every- thing.

Enchanting............................
It all started when Sam and Polly were playing in front of their summer house on the ocean....As they were playing they see something mysterious floating along in the water, and imediatly they go to try and get it.But,when a large wave crashes on them, their 13-year old Brother Joe comes and rescues them, but they can't find the mysterious green bottle....Later while in Joe's room they see it!They figure Joe must have taken whlie they were underwater....So they devise a plan to get their bottle back.......After they get it they open it and it says That whoever snatches this bottle from the Ocean gets 3 wishes from the Element......Wow,3 wishes!!!!!!Even though Sam and Polly aren't sure what that means, but they try their wishes imediatly...They come up with many wishes-like wishes for beauty, fame, wealth, new cars, the ability to fly-But none of them work!!!!Then they go back out to the beach, and Polly kinda of flippetly says,"We might as well as wished for something silly, like to become a mermaid,or something like that!"....Well, a storm suddenly brews, and the waves crash, and one comes up and touches Polly's leg-And now she's a mermaid!!!!!!!They have to tell Joe about the wishes and what happened,But Joe has his own wish, and the next day he disapears, leaving no trace-except a comic book and a pair of sunglasses.......

Very helpful book
Some of this book was a bit draggy for me, and in the beginning of the book I felt there wasn't much of value for me. I was reading this because of a close friend I knew who was using the voice dialogue technique. But as I read on I could see more of myself in there as well and it truly altered the way I look at myself and others. I was able to identify my own disowned selves and in acknowledging those, I feel more whole and empowered. Thanks to the authors for this book!

One of the most useful books on personal growth I've read
When you're trying to grow and unfold, finding the source of your feelings, and actions, and conflicts, is like having a light turned on... At last, you able to address the actual cause. And addressing actual causes always brings results. It is our mis-placed blame that keeps us feeling stuck and unable to progress.

This book teaches you how to create a dialogue between various parts of your personality, who are often conflicted in what they want and need. This dialogue leads, at the least, to more understanding, and often to negotiated settelments where everyone wins.

More than that, the practice develops a state referred to as the "aware ego" which is able to tell the difference between you and your "sub-personalities." Having an aware ego means that you are now free to have your feelings... and... you don't get lost in them any longer. How valuable is that?

This methodology has the potential to create great healing among the masses. It can be done with two or more people who are willing to grow, and does not require lenghty training or advanced degrees. Are you capable of a supportive conversation with a friend?

* If you feel dead inside, look here for new life.

* If you feel confused, look here for self-awareness and understanding.

* If you feel an undefined yearning, look here for answers.

The Essence of Stone
Published in Paperback by Yard Dog Press (15 November, 2002)
Author: Beverly A. Hale
Average review score:

Excellent!
Beverly Hale's THE ESSENCE OF STONE is a remarkably fine piece of fiction. She has succeeded in melding traditional fantasy (a wizard's apprentice and an enchanted princess among other elements), with exotic features (for one, the setting is not the usual western Europe but the Punjab), and excellent writing.
The characters are not only vividly drawn, they grow, although they still have very human weaknesses.
Hale is, in many ways, very true to life. She points out that whether one wins or loses the important struggles, other problems will remain.
While the threads are available for a sequel, and I'd eagerly buy and read one, I do not demand one because this book is such a superlative piece of work.
The essence of stone is not only the title of gthe book but a question posed to the apprentice, and the answer is appropriate.
First rate.

Refreshingly different!
This book was a breath of fresh air. A different culture, a different feel. I like that the conflict point did not have a clearly defined solution. They had to go with what they FELT was right, and in doing so, only hope and pray.

I like that not everything is wrapped up neat and tidy. Sometimes the good guys win, but not without some losses.

It is a hero story, a coming of age piece, and it is writen with a tender hand.

the language is accessible for a younger audience, and would make a FABULOUS read for young men and women who are coming of age themselves.

My only problem, and it was minor, was that I didn't realize that there was a VERY helpful glossary/appendix in the back that sorts through the cultural differences of language. ie "Amaq = idiot"

You want something different, something engaging and fun...you want this book!

Fun to Read
If most tales of quests leave you feeling dissatisfied and wondering "How does everyone just know what to do? Do these characters exist in a social vacuum with no families or friends? Don't they ever have to go to the bathroom? Why don't any of these people have a sense of humor?" then this is the book for you.

Beverly Hale writes with a strong sense of place without overdoing the descriptive detail. She makes the characters and the setting seem real. The characters are interesting and entertaining, and like the rest of us they face ambiguous situations and have to make decisions without knowing all the facts. You'll find yourself enjoying their company and caring about their fates. (And you'll probably find yourself craving Indian food, too.)
